It may be mid-summer and almost 100 degrees outside, but some of us are ready to celebrate Christmas in July at the 2012 Holiday Trail of Lights Media Event Luncheon. Each year, representatives from Alexandria-Pineville, Minden, Monroe-West Monroe, Natchitoches and Shreveport-Bossier get together to announce upcoming holiday events and activities. The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., tomorrow, Tuesday, July 24 at the Barnwell Garden and Art Center.
The weather man may predict hot humid weather for tomorrow’s forecast, but come down to the Barnwell in downtown Shreveport and see it snow despite balmy temperatures outside. Guests who attend will hear details of Christmas parades and festivals. They will see splendid holiday décor, and they will taste some of north and central Louisiana’s tastiest dishes. A new holiday lighted set piece will also be revealed for the first time.
Those interested in attending will need to RSVP by calling (318) 222-9391 by 5 p.m. today. For a full list of holiday events in north and central Louisiana, visit www.holidaytrailoflights.com and sign up for the Holiday Trial of Lights e-newsletter. You can also ‘Like’ them on Facebook.
